NATURE WONDER

On Monday I had a shock, I looked out into my garden and noticed on the roof of my neighbours shed a Blackbird, spread eagled wings out. I had never seen anything like it and became concerned that it had been 'Catd'. I went to use Mick's new camera to capture an image, and did then the bird moved I snapped again and then off it went. It had been warming itself, sunbathing if you like. My Mum says she has seen this before, but I never have even heard about it.

Yesterday and today Mick and I have been woken by an unsual bird noise. When we checked it out there on the front public garden area were two Woodpeckers. One appeared to be adult the other juvenile. They were in a feeding frenzie and had found a ready source in the cracks of the pavement slabs for which their slim long beaks are perfectly adapted. The early bird catches the worm, is an old saying but these two were the thinking early birds. I saw the adult also feed the juvenile. They walked!!!! all over the area and up our front path. Another adult set up an alarm when Smudge the cat wondered up to have a look and the two flew into the Silver Birch doing the Woodpecker thing of hanging on the bark. On the first day I saw the two WP's a Blackbird and a Thrush. Today the two WP's a Blackbird, a Wren and a Squirrel, all from my bedroom window what more can I ask. Love Granny
