Further to my post about Janet Street Porters article, I must say I could not agree more. There should be NO mixed NHS wards. There is no dignity for either sex at a time when they are most vulnerable being placed in a mixed sex ward. I felt safe because I was in a female ward, I could talk to women in a similar condition and I was relaxed so I felt I could get better quicker. The talk is always of service according to need. The need is for privacy, security,care and dignity. The article was in the Mail and in the Independent on Sunday - worth a read.
