UNKNOWN SOLDIERS

I am passionate about the history of the First World War.....They have discovered some 400 photographs in France in a barn. These are photos of such emotion, men who at rest had them taken to send to family in 1915-1916. Many would die in the heat and mud of battle. You can see them on www.independent.co.uk/unknownsoldiers and some are published in Independent magazine today.

I also recommend two books, Richard Holmes 'Tommy' is wonderful.

POISON

The current furoe will bring down the Government. I believe that they have done wrong, but we must watch carefully for 'demon' parties sneaking in and taking control....imagine CCTV in their hands! Remember the Germany of 1930's. If you value your civil liberties be warned.

If you and I did the kind of thing that has been discovered over MP's expences - we would be arrested. Now they will have the feeling that other people have of when they are means tested. Where do democrats go now? How can we point to MPs as an example for young people about how to behave. Granny xx

GERMAN SOLDIERS

I really feel I must comment on the fact that 33 German soldiers (Bundeswhr) have been killed in Afganistan since 2002. Actually they have 3,800 soldiers stationed there. They have the third highest number of soldiers behind the UK and USA. Today there was a fire fight (30) involved 4 attacker 4 injured and 4 captured. The most recent soldier killed last week was aged 22 was and he laid down his life in Kunduz. LET US PREY FOR HIS FAMILY. Let remember that our old enemy is behind the lines with us.

MORE HISTORY

The schools and the curriculum are denying our children access to their national identity by focusing on the recent past (important thought it is). We need to look so much further back, to beyond the Medieval, beyond the Norman Conquest, beyond the Romans to the world of our forefathers. The names, the stories the people who lived and loved in the very very past.

Let me throw this name out there, Eleanor of Aquitaine.....a real Queen of England... Duchess of the Aquitane, wife of Henry II, one time wife of the King of France, Crusader, mother of Richard I, King John.....who was the woman who over saw justice and I do mean justice.....let us understand what really happened. FAMILY HISTORY

Let me put this out there, 'Who Do You Think You Are?' is a great programme but it distorts the time scales involved. Looking into your family history takes time and effort. I attended the Family History Event and the Barbican yesterday, I am telling you that you need this type of thing they can help you. There was so much information, help, resources and the number of people between the hours of 9 and 5 was extra ordinary. I urge you to let your children explore their family, let them develop their identity. Don't let your family disappear. Granny

This woman does not have the right to subject children to her life style...she needs to think about the safety and welfare of her own children and stop fighting with their father over who has what right over them...they need both parents even if they are apart. Granny xx

BABY PETER

At last the indignity of a baby being named by a letter has been named...Peter. What a cost for official inactivity with this child.

Linked to the Peter case our heart must also go out to the poor little 4 year old girl forced to give evidence against a vile human being, cross examined by harsh male voices, barristers. What could she lie about? what could she know to lie about? He took her innocence never to be regained. Many years ago I used similar techniques of interviewing with toys. I have held abused children while they told me their experiences and was grateful that I could be there for them.

Our political correctness...has been misplaced in child interventions...people can be and are evil..they tell lies about what they do to children. WAKE UP.....intervene and save a life, don't and a child dies..end of story no going back. Grannyxxx

WHY ARE PEOPLE PRATS

I am endlessly tired of drunken people on trains, bored of listening to endless mobile phone conversations, about personal and business lives, sex and why can't women put their make up on before they leave home for work?...the train is not the place. Why do some drivers, block junctions?..that causes congestion. Speed kills. Granny xxx

WAR HORSE

If you never have been to the theater, if you never go again....you must go to see 'War Horse' a National Theater production co Handspring Puppet Company at the New London Theater. It is based on the book of the same name by Michael Morpurgo. In a jam packed theater audience aged 90 to 9 I could feel them breathing. I cried from the start not because it was bad but because it was supreme.. in production and staging. The stars are the horses 'Joey' and 'Topthorn'...I will say no more. Don't be put off by the World War One theme...

Who could not be moved by this glorius production, to a standing ovation the actors took the stage to take their bows. Go Go Go and see it. My husband treated me to this treat, washed down with some champagne! on a glorius day spent in Covent Garden. I had the best day, I know you will to.
